Angel City FC Patch Program

Contributing designer for ACFC’s 2023 Marketing Campaign - celebrating the beautifully diverse and culturally rich city of Los Angeles.

Angeleno Patch Program

Angel City Football Club, for it’s 2023 season, was looking to celebrate the beautiful city of Los Angeles by highlighting the different communities and interest groups that make it such a culturally rich and diverse place to call home.

AFCFC asked 11 designers, myself included, within these groups to create a patch that represents our communities in our own voices. I was asked to create the LGBT+ patch as a representative of the West Hollywood Soccer Club (WHSC).

The patches made their debut with the launch of the team’s 2023 away kits, allowing fans to buy the kit and then apply their favorite patch to the arm of the jersey.

The Initial Designs

I had a knee-jerk reaction to this brief because immediately a few different themes popped into my head. First, the theme of family. My community and circle here in LA are my family. And the second thought that came to mind is that Los Angeles has become my happy place. I’ve grown to get so much joy out of my time in this city with my close friends. The three designs below are the options I presented to the ACFC crew with these themes in-mind.

ACFC created a short interview with myself and a few other WHSC club members to debut the patch and briefly talk about the themes of ‘pride’ and ‘family’ as it relates to our LA community.

The video debuted on ACFC’s Pride Night and images from the photoshoot are being used in their marketing materials for the 2023 season.
